Revia Naltrexone Treating Alcoholism
Revia Naltrexone is used to maintain a drug-free state in those previously addicted to opiates. Revia and Depade are the brand name of Naltrexone. These brand names are all medically the same; they are just sold under different trade names in different countries. Naltrexone is the active ingredient in these drugs. This drug is indicated for the treatment of alcoholism. This medication must not be used in persons currently using narcotics.Dosage and Instruction
Use Naltrexone as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.
- Naltrexone tablet may be taken with or without food.
- This medication should not be used until the naltrexone challenge test is negative.
- Before taking this medication, you have to raise your willing power to take this pill to prevent alcohol dependence, you are required to be free of substance abuse for 7 to 10 days, you must not have any severe or active liver or kidney problems, and you must not have any other medical problems or conditions that make taking this pill injudicious.

Possible Side effects of Naltrexone
Some people have reported some minor as well as major side effects. So it can be told that Revia Naltrexonehas also adverse effects.The following are some common side effects which can be associated with this drug: headache; nausea; nervousness; increased energy; increased thirst; irritability; joint and muscle pain; anxiety; appetite loss; chills; constipation; delayed ejaculation; diarrhea; dizziness; drowsiness; feeling down; low energy; sleeplessness; stomach pain/cramps; vomiting. Check with your doctor if any of these most common side effects persist or become worse.
Besides the above common side effects, it may also cause severe side effects such as, dark urine; depression; severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); abdominal or stomach pain; cramping; suicidal thoughts or behaviors; unusual tiredness or weakness; vomiting; white bowel movements; yellowing of the skin or eyes.
These side effects occur very rare. And there is no guarantee that patients will suffer all these side effects. It is only an assumption.
Go for medical treatment at once if any of these SEVERE side effects occur.
Missed Dose
If you miss a dose of Naltrexone and you are taking 1 dose daily, do no try to make up the missed dose by doubling the dose the next day. Take the next scheduled dose and consult your doctor.
Overdose
